OUR STORY
“Cecil, the man who taught me my craft, has over 60 years’ experience. When I approached him with the hope to guide and train me in starting my own woodworking journey, he said that he wasn’t familiar with, or interested in the modern ways of building disposable furniture. It was exactly what I had hoped to hear. I wanted to learn the traditional methods, where skill and patience lead the way.”
Woodsmith began with a quiet decision to trust the old ways. In a small Irish workshop, an apprentice and a master met over shared values – care, patience, and respect for the work. What followed was not just training in a skill, but an introduction to a way of thinking. To build with care and consideration. To choose honesty over shortcuts. To let tradition guide the hands.
That foundation still holds everything we do. We create wood furniture with lasting presence. While our methods honour tradition, our process is refined for today – ensuring every piece is crafted with precision, efficiency, and care. Not built for trends or made to be replaced, but shaped with purpose, made to be lived with, and rooted in something deeper.

We prioritise natural materials, long-lasting craftsmanship, and low-waste practices. Where possible, we use sustainably harvested wood and eco-conscious finishes. In some cases, especially where function or specific project needs call for it, we introduce more accessible materials – always selected with care, and never at the cost of quality.
